Mr. M. Grossman adds this description: This is a traditional tribal headdress, called a “Meoko”, of the Kayapo tribe of the Xingu region of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The headdress was acquired by me about 40 years ago when I was in the Peace Corps, in the days before the Endangered Species laws prevented the collection of exotic featherwork.
"This is a traditional headdress from one of the indigenous Indian tribes of the Amazon. The headdress is made of tropical bird feathers and native fibers."
